ROBACUS is the mind of the brain that we know as computer. The computer community has thus far produced a powerful brain, but only done patch works when it comes to firing up this brain with a mind.
What will this mind look like? It would try to fulfill the purpose that the computer is created in the first place -- to solve all our technical problems. This requires the mind to be the collective intelligences of all of us. ROBACUS first has to be the vehicle to rally such a collective effort. Once the knowledges of all the surrounding users are absorbed and cumulated in it, ROBACUS would take charge of the effort to automate the production and distribution of all basic material needs for all of us.
Ironically, the very reason that the developement of this mind is not being pursued in earnest is that we want to solve these problems with our own minds. But this is motivated by the disillusion of the technology-haves that they need to use technology to exploit the havenots.
But as nature has intended, the same way machines have replaced our muscles, computers are destined to replace our brains. We simply have to accept the fact that human beings are not just here on earth to make a living. There got to be something better in stored for us.
For those who simply wont let go of this intelligence phase in human evolution, the limited human brain when overstrained in self-imagined struggles for material resources could very well bring down the doomsday upon us. No wonder the leading thrust in technology, especially in computers, is in building doomsday weapons.
Luckily, ROBACUS does not need everybody to agree before being developed. In fact it only needs just anybody to bring it to a state where automatical absorption and accumulation of knowledge is possible. But this anybody, or anybodies, must commit himself to develope ROBACUS for others.
This means no learning curves. ROBACUS, therefore, must interface the users in natural language. This is accomplished through natural language progamming and computing, using a 3000-words set of universal language based on abbreviated English.
And once onboard, the communication must be absolute. In fact it must be so unambiguous that users are not allowed to communicate directly. This requires that all interactions between users and computer be recorded verbatim, in clearly understandable plain language. Such recordings are the only allowed media for communication. When these recordings are made functional by allowing them to repeat the interactions they recorded, they do not just communicate the what, but also the how, things are done. These appropriately dubbed software robots will be the reservoir of knowledge that can bring the problem solving ability it embodied to everyone's finger tip.
As long as ROBACUS is not derailed from the above mentioned guidelines, it is expected to be ready for production before 2008 and for debutting in the 2010 Shanghai Expo, along with a universal language for the benefit of the non-English speaking majority of the world.
